Born: 24 February 1971, Barcelona, Spain Grand Prix starts: 107 Grand Prix victories: 0 Points total: 35

Born in Barcelona in 1971, Pedro de la Rosa began his career with model cars, and he was twice European Radio-controlled Car Off-road Champion in the 1980s. He then moved to racing karts before becoming Spanish Formula Fiat Uno Champion in 1989.

A year later, he was Spanish Formula Ford Champion, and in 1992 he won both the European and the British Formula Renault Championships. In 1995, he was Japanese Formula Three Champion and in 1997 he won the Formula Nippon F3000 Championship and Japan All GT Championship.

This brought him to the attention of Jordan and he signed to test for the team in 1998. Arrows gave him a race seat but he had limited success and left for Jaguar the following year. It was another tough season so he spent the next two years testing for McLaren. In 2005, he was given the chance to drive for the team at the Bahrain Grand Prix and he finished an impressive fifth. The following season he only raced in five grands prix but he finished three, including a fantastic second to Jenson Button in Hungary.

De la Rosa continued testing for McLaren until late 2009 when he signed to drive for Sauber in the following year's championship. He finished seven of 13 races and scored points in Hungary. He only drove once in 2011 before moving to HRT for the next campaign. It was a disappointing series though as he couldn't finish better than 17th.
