Lewis Hamilton pens two-year extension with Mercedes

Lewis Hamilton signed a two-year contract extension with Mercedes that will keep the four-time world champion with the team until the end of the 2020 season.

Hamilton's deal is worth a reported $52-million per year, cementing the British star's status as Formula 1's highest paid driver and his country's top earning sportsman.

"Mercedes-AMG Petronas Motorsport and Lewis Hamilton today announced the agreement of a two-year contract extension for the 2019 and 2020 F1 seasons," a statement from the team read.
