On this day... 22 June (1975) - Hunt scores maiden victory for Hesketh

When Lord Hesketh decided to start a racing team, there was one driver he had in mind to fit the bill.

Playboy racer James Hunt was signed up to drive for the squad and the F1 establishment was forced to start taking them seriously when Hunt took his and Hesketh's maiden victory at the Dutch Grand Prix at Zandvoort. Although Hunt went on to become world champion, it was Hesketh's only victory in the sport.

2005

BMW announced it was to pull the plug on its engine partnership with Williams and decided to buy Peter Sauber's F1 team instead. The new BMW team took its first victory at Canada in June 2008.

2008

Felipe Massa won the French Grand Prix. Kimi Raikkonen was on course for victory before a broken exhaust cost him the race and he nursed the car home for second.
