Nigel Mansell pulled off one of the moves that earned him the nickname 'Il Leone' (The Lion) from the Tifosi at the Mexican Grand Prix.
Alain Prost was leading in his Ferrari but behind him Gerhard Berger in his McLaren was trying to stay in front of Mansell. On the final lap, Mansell made his now legendary move, taking Berger on the outside of the Peraltada corner. The race also marked Ayrton Senna's 100th start in Formula One.
1984
Nelson Piquet won the US Grand Prix in Detroit. Piquet led from flag to flag and held off a brilliant charge by first-year driver Martin Brundle in the normally aspirated Tyrrell to win the third Detroit Grand Prix by less than a second. Sadly, Brundle's car was eventually disqualified after a lengthy dispute for having illegal ballast in the water system.
2003
Juan Pablo Montoya was banned from driving on French roads for four months after he was caught doing 126 mph in his BMW. He was also fined $1,200 but the ban did not stop him racing in F1.
